I think I shall talk about nothings and/or inconsequentials today.

Got to work nice and early and opened up the building. Workmen appreciate that because there is a men's room available. They used to come for the Coke machine, but we got rid of that. I think that once Cokes had gone to $1.25 for a 20 oz. drink that business slowed significantly. I quit using the machine when I realized I could buy a six-pack of 24 oz. bottles for $3.38 (plus tax.)

AND--I finished Allison! I have two cartons with all her papers, letters, souveniers, and snapshots filed in acid-free folders and/or swathed in archival tissue paper. That last is mostly the five or six Bolivian flutes she brought back as souveniers, but also includes little flags and a (small) doll or two. I plan on getting there really early tomorrow morning so I can type up the inventory list before the librarian etc. get there.

And yes--I tried out the flutes. I'm sure the student workers up front were wondering what was going on, but I explained later.

Once again I remembered to bring my lunchtime apple cores home with me. The raccoons really like those and grab a core before they get the dog raccoon biscuits.

Today was brilliantly clear and I could see the tall buildings of downtown New Orleans before I started across the lake. That's about 30 miles away. It stayed lovely all day, but tommorrow's forecast isn't so encouraging. Coming home was equally clear, although I couldn't see St. Tammany parish from New Orleans. We just don't have any big tall landmarks.

Needless to say, fingers are tightly crossed weatherwise for the next six days. Parades all over the place. I think Slidell's last parade is this Friday evening.

And that's it for today. No political commentary.
