Today is Fat Tuesday, aka Mardi Gras. The party has moved from the parade routes to the French Quarter, where it will continue until midnight.

That is the time it ENDS. The police drive a unit slowly down Bourbon Street, followed by a phalanx of mounted police to clear the crowds out.

And then the trash trucks move in. Crowd size is estimated from trash tonnage.

Of course, there are always a few who don't know the word "over," but they will get a free bed at Parish Prison if they don't quit.

I didn't do much of anything till late afternoon when I went up to the mall area to get gas and a reduced price car wash at the Shell station near WalMart.

My car has been looking worse and worse, and I blame it on the wild cherry trees. The birds love them. They pass through the birds fairly quickly. I park outside.

The next windshield dirtier will be the love bugs. The whole bug gets smushed with these. And it's usually two bugs with an intimate connection.

Weather was warm enough today that I still have a window open and the fan on in my office room. I'll have to check the weather forecast to see if we'll have fog tomorrow morning, and adjust my departure time accordingly.

And another involuntary yawn (or they all involuntary?) makes me wonder how late into the evening I'll make it.

Back to TV and a book.
