Fabian has passed.

He was acting somewhat sluggish this morning, and looking pale, so I called the local vet for an appointment. By the time I got there this afternoon he was almost gone--in fact he passed between the time the vet first looked at him and when he came back a few minutes later to talk about helping him along.

They wrapped him up for me, and he is now in the "mortuary" - aka freezer.

When Diana gets a chance she'll bury him near his brother and the other cats of the household.

And you know you're around animal people when someone in the waiting room asks if I need another cat--her friend/relative works with placing kittens via PetSmart. I thanked her, but explained that I have former shelter cats still at home. She understood completely.

The vet said it was probably something inherited from his mother that can erupt at any time. It destroys the red blood cells. And I don't need to worry about my other animals "catching" it.

Other than that, it was an ordinary day. The trashman apologized for raising the price for pickup, but the gasoline - - - -

Not the best of days however.
