And I managed to get a nice early start on my commute. I was unlocking the front door of the building at about 0715.

Once I was in I heard an alarm-type noise from upstairs--rather faint and not particularly threatening. I unlocked the library, punched in my alarm code, and then started to settle in for work.

I glanced out the window and there was a cop on his bicycle, (finally) coming to investigate the alarm noise. He had no trouble getting in because I'd unlocked all the front doors. I came out of the library and asked him (more or less) what was going on. He went upstairs and looked all over and couldn't figure out what had set an alarm off, and how to shut it off.

In a few minutes three or four maintenance-type guys arrived and they all trooped upstairs. I guess they didn't know what to do either, because the beeping continued.

I didn't really care--I could barely hear it from the library.

The secretary arrived and was back downstairs in a minute to ask me what was going on. I told him.

Eventually the noise stopped.

And the rest of the day was incredibly unremarkable.

I did get a lot of work done and am beginning to see the end of the unprocessed files.

I was looking at a photo from some unspecified reunion and was trying to figure out where it belonged. So I looked at the people closely and would you believe I recognized one! I found a reunion book for that photograph, and sure enough, it was that person. So, I had a year for their graduation.

This afternoon I had a phone call. It was the Blood Center. I had checked my most recent donor card and I am eligible to give again July 8. I told the woman that I was aware that I'd be eligible the next day and was tentatively planning on giving. She told me this month's promo is "a pint (of Blue Bell ice cream) for a pint" (of blood.)

I wonder if they also have a t-shirt, not that I need one, but some are very clever.
