"Yard Work" was at the top of today's to-do list, just underneath "dump papers."

But it rained.

So I caught up on the bookkeeping. Fortunately, almost all my bills get paid automatically--or I can make an online transfer.

My orthopedist, in his new solo practice, has some top people in his office staff. It is less than two months since I saw him and they have gotten the insurance money coming (first the claim goes to Medicare, then to my catastrophic insurer) and sent me a bill. For a very small amount. Thank you Big Brother.

Then I decided to have lunch at Arby's, with their nice roast beef sandwiches, folllowed by reading at PJ's. When I got to PJ's I returned a call from the Blood Center and set up an appointment for platelet donation. Should be interesting. I will be sure to have a good book to take along--the procedure takes two hours or so. I shall continue avoiding caffiene and eating lots of high-iron foods.

Reading today was Priscilla Royal's fourth book. I am about halfway through and enjoying it as much as the three previous books. Of course, I hope she's busy on #5.

This spring some of the "girls" of my high school class of '54 are going on a cruise. I actually gave it some serious consideration, but ultimately decided against it. I explained how my various ambulation problems came about in an e-mail to a classmate who was once part of "the group."

Today I got a mass letter sent to all my high school classmates who have registered their e-mail addresses with Classmates.com. It was a pass-along of my Kenya "adventure." I was a garden-variety nerd in high school (except nerds didn't exist then) but I think I'm making up for it in my "golden years." And it's a lot more fun.

Back to work tomorrow, unless it's raining when it's time to go in.
