Just about all day. It did cool the air down however.

I think it's supposed to be more of the same tomorrow, so I'll stay at home then too. I got no further than the end of my driveway this morning, and that was to retrieve the paper.

The cats were equally disinclined to go out, although Lady went as far as the patio (protected by an awning) for a while.

My major accomplishment for today was finally finishing Lilith Saintcrow's last book in her series To Hell and Back. It is quite intense, to put it mildly. It's also about 400 pages long.

There is no lack of other books to choose from, but after that one I need need something less intense. I've got several waiting to be read--I'll decide this evening while I watch TV.

They got the last pieces of the oil barge out of the river today. I'll be interested to see what happens about the tugboat crew without the proper certifications.

I guess the ferry that goes between Algiers and Canal Street and has been shut down will be functioning again. A lot of people use that for commuting. They've added a couple of buses, but that doesn't do much for those who need a car on the other side of the river.

My neighbor's cat waits on the outer part of the front porch till I've put down the wet food for my gang and gone back inside. Then he's in there and eating along with them. I haven't seen the possum inside since the last time I mentioned it, but that doesn't mean he, too, isn't helping him/herself at the food bar.

I was watching the women's bicycle race yesterday. It ended at the main access to the Great Wall. I've been to that town--and on the Great Wall. And I've been to Tiannamen Square and the Forbidden City. (I've also seen the terra cotta army in Xian, but the Olympics doesn't have any events there. It's about a 2 - 3 hour flight from Beijing.)

Enough of the reminiscing--I wonder what events will be televised tonight.
