Rain Predicted

Heavy rain predicted, and the weather radar supported that prediction, so I passed on going in to New Orleans today.

I think we're now on tornado alert (or maybe warning) but it's still looking good outside. The weather radar says it's raining, or it WAS raining 15 minutes ago.

Well, at least I caught up on the bills and bookkeeping. And after lunch I got my toes prettied. It was not at all crowded--there were only two other customers while I was there. The people there now recognize me when I walk by--they smile and say hello.

WalMart's refurbishment continues. They replaced the checkout counters so that half of them are on the customer's right, as opposed to all of them being on the left. It's mildly disconcerting to unload etc. the groceries to a different side. And I pity the poor checkers who now have to grab the items with their left hand instead of right. A whole new set of motions.

After finishing with the feet I filled up the gas tank ($3.619 today) then headed to Arby's for a late lunch/early supper.

I'd picked up the mail on my way out and there was a new mystery among the goodies. It's set in Egypt, after the reign of Akenhaton--who installed his own essentially monotheistic religion.

On the local front, the mayor of a town in western St. Tammany (my parish) is being investigated by the federal government. So is his police chief. The mayor is the one who crashed through a toll booth gate while driving a city car with unregistered plates--and was not issued a ticket, even though he was clearly under the influence! There is also a "problem" about irregular usage of Toys for Tots money.

And now it's time to head back to Egypt.
