One of the two and a half major ways across Lake Pontchartrain--the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway--had to shut down its southbound lanes during morning commuting hours, due to an accident.

When I heard that I decided to turn off the lights and go back to sleep.

How would the thousands of people get across the Lake? Well, they could go north and cross the top of it on I-55, or they could make their way to Slidell and I-10 and/or Hwy 11 (the old bridge, which I normaly take.)

The result--based on past experience--is that the alternate routes become exercises in stop and slow.

No thank you, at least not when I have an alternative.

It rained a fair amount this morning, but cleared up about noon. I think it's supposed to stay clear now for a while.

After I woke up for the second time I did some household stuff and a bit of reading. And after some lunch I heaaded for PJ's where I finished the book I'd started. It's a mystery (of course) set in Egypt just after the death of the Pharaoh who worshipped only one deity. It's a short book and I read the whole thing today. I enjoyed it, especially since I've read a bunch about that period.

Next up is a novel Nefertiti, by Michelle Moran.

Barring another major traffic tie-up and/or inclement weather, tomorrow I'll be back at work.
