I will be so glad when these low pressure systems get out of here. My assorted joints are aching up a storm (appropriate choice of words). They will feel much better when it is bright and clear.

The subdivision my lawyer friend lives in is closed to all but residents, and there's a cop there to enforce it. Flooding from the Ike storm surge is the reason.

The nearby street no longer has water across it, but the bayou has filled several back yards.

The pictures from Houston were bad, and the pictures of the coastline (LA and TX) show a lot of devastation.

Ike has now swung northeast and will dump rain on northern Louisiana. At least they don't have to worry about storm surge.

I finished Firebird, by Mercedes Lackey. A very satisfying book.

And that pretty much sums up my day.
