Yes--as I write (0915) there is white stuff coming out of the sky. My car has a visible blanket on it, but so far it turns to water when it hits the ground.

The local morning show people had a mini snowball fight. One of the guys brought in a cup of the stuff from outside, and one of the hosts threw a snowball at the weather person. It got her in the chest and slithered down behind her jacket.

The last time we had snow was Christmas day four years ago.

Needless to say, I have no intention of driving in it. Even though I grew up in cold country, I trust neither my reflexes nor those of people who are not used to snow.

The parishes east of the Mississippi and north of mine are shut down. Schools are closed, government offices are closed.

Yes--I know that this is not much snow at all to many of you, but the word "snowplow" is not in the vocabulary of local governments. Most of all, though, is the desire to keep as many drivers as possible off the roads, but especially off the bridges, which have a nasty habit of freezing.

Lady insisted on going out this morning. That lasted about five minutes. I need to make sure the cat boxes are halfway "decent"--and have enough litter--to give them an alternative.

Oh--this is the earliest snow has ever fallen (in Weather Service history) in the New Orleans area.
