He came, he tinkered and puttered, replaced something or other, and now things (seem to be) are working again.

And he did it all in under an hour. Plus--he showed up about an hour earlier than "promised."

Today was wet. It rained and rained, and it wasn't too long before the ditches were full and overflowing. And the TV stations were listing locations for getting sandbags. I think it was somewhere between 6 and 9 inches of rain.

As he was leaving I suddenly remembered that the replacement mirror glass for my car was supposed to be in today. I made a quick call, then drove over there to get it installed.

It had more or less stopped rainging by then, but oh the bayous were WAAAY up. And there was flooding on a bunch of streets, although not mine to any significant degree.

I think that tomorrow is supposed to be better, although more rain is on the way by the weekend. If it doesn't rain tonight, and the forecast in the morning is halfway decent, I'll go in to work. Tulane, however, floods in a heavy dew.

While I was waiting for the internet guy I ran the vacuum around the house. There's probably at least one cat's worth of hair in there now, not to mention a family of dust bunnies.

But I have a new modem (or something) and internet access once again without having to leave the house.

I am once again part of the modern world.
