Saw the orthopedist this morning and learned that my increasing hip problems can be corrected by a much less involved surgery than I thought. I'm due to see him again in four months, but if it continues to plague me I'll be in there sooner.

And - - - ran into a couple in the waiting room whom I knew in the past. I am so bad with faces that I would not recognize them. Also, even though they also ended up in Slidell, the "Rocketdyne group" socialization had pretty much gone away. We knew them originally in Cheyenne, and if I remember correctly they had four kids, two of whom are twins. They didn't go to Texas, like we did, but ended up in Slidell for all the space shuttle engine work. We spent about ten minutes updating on who was where (and still alive!). I don't remember if they were in Florida for the moon launches, but they probably were, as were we.

After finishing with the doctor I stopped at McDonalds for coffee and a late breakfast. (My dr. appointment was an early one.) There were a couple of busloads of kids there, and they were extremely polite and well-behaved. I think they were from Pensacola, judging by some of the tee shirts. I complimented one of the adults on the general courtesy of the kids.

When I got home I finished the book I'd been reading. Ms. Pendragon, by Michele Lang. It was okay, but not really my "type."

An attorney (female) ends up transported back to Arthurian times and tries to correct the messes with Lancelot, Mordred, Arthur, and a bunch of other Round Table denizens. It was okay, but I'm not sure if I'll seek out others by this author. My knowledge of Arthurian legends is a bit rusty. I'll just have to see what appears. I know I read some books that others think are dreadful, so it's a matter of taste.

The book, however, was compelling enough that I spent most of the day reading it, so I guess that says something positive.

Now, however, I need to open my ears for the next book calling me to read it.
