The other evening I bought a box of mixed granola-type bars. There were a couple with peanut butter. I don't particularly care for peanut butter except for when it's surrounded by jelly and between two slices of bread, so I set them aside.

This evening I opened the door to the patio and there was a raccoon wondering where the goodies were. I tossed the critter one of the bars, and it took very little time to decide it was definitely worth grabbing and investigating.

A day or so ago I tossed out one of those small round watermelons that I had sort of forgotten about until it was getting soft spots. The only part that remained in the morning was about a third of the shell, stripped clean of the pink stuff. There will no doubt be some watermelon vines in the woods next spring, depending on how well the raccoons chew their food before swallowing it.

I just realized that tonight is Time Change night. (I think.) Must remember to do that, although the hard-to-change timepieces are running happily on daylight time year round. My car clock will be correct, for one. I'll have to remember not to panic, thinking I'm running late in the mornings.

Thank goodness for the cell phone, which happily adjusts to whatever time it is. And the computers.

And now I need to go through the increasing stack of want-to-read books and get started on one.

Can't be without a book in progress!
