I was sitting on my patio, reading the paper, and looking at even more trees showing leaves beginning to bud.

I heard the sound of a vehicle stopping at the end of my driveway, followed by footsteps crunching their way towards the house (The house is 150 feet from the road.)

I guessed right--it was the UPS man!!

And he had a book. (Does UPS deliver anything else, at least to me?)

I shall start reading Eight for Eternity as soon as I finish the current book.

(Are you and Mary working on Nine, Eric?)

Earlier this afternoon I'd headed out to WalMart to get another roll-along trash can. And some bedding plants, which I shall probably kill before I get them in the ground. (I have a black thumb.)

Fed the felines, had a bite myself, then settled back to reading the J. D. Robb book.

It seemed like only a couple of minutes later that I was wondering why it was almost dark at 4-ish in the afternoon, and "House" was on TV on a "regular" channel.

So, what did I accomplish today?

I filled the car's gas tank and I got a second roll-along trash container. The guy at the door at WalMart agreed with my guess that the disappearance of the handcart was more likely a rip-off than an act of "salvage." (I've been using that method for probably ten years.)

And I had a nice nap.

At any rate, another day gone by and the toilet didn't clog up. I'm ready now--I have a couple of big bottles of Drano. The fact that I am prepared should be preventive enough.

Back to work tomorrow.
