I have my fingers crossed that my car will get finished tomorrow. Aside from going stir crazy, the larder is getting low.

But--I did get some stuff done today. A biggie (for me) was dumping about a month's worth of papers into the great turtle pond in the back yard. It's still a bit on the cool side, and the turtles are on the sluggish side, but I did see some. I think the glance they gave me was go away and let me get back to sleep.

In the afternoon I took a short nap, then watched the Indianapolis 500--or parts of it at least.

An eternity ago I went to stock car races with a date. These were incredibly local--as I recall it was on a dirt track in Eau Gallie, Florida--near the Space Center. And I think they ended up with a demolition derby.

But that's more than 50 years ago and my memory is a bit foggy there.

The cats have been doing their feline thing--CC pretty much stays inside and supervises from the window or porch. Spots patrols the area around the house and keeps the elephants away. That's a really important job, and Spots and previous cats have done an excellent job. There have been no reports of elephant sightings in the area since we moved here back in '76.

I am crossing fingers that my car will get done tomorrow. I shall probably spend the first full day I have it back catching up on errands and restocking at WalMart.
