I got a note from Avast asking if I wanted to renew it. I checked with my computer guru--aka YD--and then crossed my fingers and started going through what (to me) are complicated instructions.

I don't want to say for sure, but it looks like I may have managed to get the upgrade/renewal installed.

The computer is working, and even though the desktop icons got moved around a bit, everything I had there before is still there.

(Note: I am still not positive that everything is okay. I shall let it be a pleasant surprise if it is.)

I grew up with the slide rule. In college (I was an engineering major) it was an absolute necessity.

With the computer, I've learned what I need to for the work I want to do on it.

Anyway - - - if things mess up YD will get to clean it up when she's here on Sunday, before the Falcons game.

I cannot help but wonder what inventions/devices will be coming out when my kids are in their seventies. (I'm 74.) Probably it will be something not yet apparent.

Anyway, today was a blah day. Weather was fine, but nothing much happened. I cleaned off the top of my head and rebandaged it, complete with the prescription goop. It doesn't hurt unless I press it, but it's not doing too well on the healing end.

The raccoons appear to have left for winter quarters. This has happened in years past. This year's mamas were part of last year's litter. The younger ones have been coming by for food less frequently, and they are by themselves. Mama is probably off somewhere breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Let's see--today is Wednesday--mittwoch in German--which means middle of the week. Wednesday comes from Woden's Day--Woden being some early polytheistic deity. If I remember correctly, Woden may have been a deity of thunder. I have no idea how that became the middle of the week.

Enough of the drivel. Time to see what drivel is on TV this evening.
