Not much of note today.

I had an appointment in New Orleans in the afternoon, and by the time I drove in, had the appointment, then drove home, the afternoon was effectively gone.

The old Hwy. 11 bridge is the most direct route for me, but occassionally it gets a driver who IS NOT COMFORTABLE with being on a two-lane bridge, even though mid-afternoon is definitely NOT a time of heavy traffic.

It has (posted) a maximum speed limit of 50 mph, AND a minimum of 45. When there is five miles of no passing you have to keep the pace up.

Today was a day with a nervous Nellie ahead of me. Fortunately, it was not a total slowpoke, so I got only mildly irritated.

There was almost no traffic in either direction, and that helped.

When I got onto the interstate traffic was, of course, heavier. And at that point I got rid of the slowpoke.

Once in New Orleans I got my "up-date" on the levee raising. The street semi-closings had moved. Much of the levee is considerably higher, and I managed not to get confused at the various bridges over the Intercoastal Waterway and some other waterways. I pity the people living in the area who have to cope with the relatively minor route changes on a daily basis.

I think it would be really interesting to see it from the air.

It's getting colder, and cold weather warnings are being issued. These include the openings of various shelters, and trying to get street people to make use of them.

My cats think that being domestic is a VERY good idea. I expect that Spots will be cuddling (exchanging warmth) with me tonight. CC has wiggled around enough on the double papasan to have made herself a nest. The basis of her nest is the down sleeping bag, which she has scrunched up to "fit."

Whether or not I go in to New Orleans tomorrow will depend on how cold I feel in the morning. According to a calendar I finally found on the Tulane web site, exams ended today, so tomorrow might not be such a good idea--extra traffic of kids getting picked up to drive home.

I'll see what tomorrow is like before I decide.

At the moment, my decision is back to the couch near the TV, and pull up the afghan.
