Three Boats!!!

I went in to work today--and for a while I thought I'd never get there.

The bridge across Bayou Liberty was just going up on the road I take. And a lot of others take it too.

I settled down for what should have been a moderate time period--but after boat one had gone through another one appeared!! And after that one came a third.

I'm sure the traffic was backed up at least two miles on this particular road.

It was at LEAST 20 minutes before the traffic was moving again.

And apparently several key McDonald's employees were somewhere behind me in the long line of cars, because when I got to the store it was only sort of open. The outside lights were off, and the drive-up window closed.

So who needs breakfast?

The rest of the drive in was uneventful. But those boats added at least 30 minutes to the commute time.

It takes these bridges a while to get back into road-functioning position.

I guess I'm lucky that this happens very seldom.

Got in to work, and had a very productive day. I spent most of it working with alumnae records. I've made a small dent in the collection, but there's lots more.

About four I headed for home, and that drive was (thank goodness) uneventful. I swung through Burger King for supper, and the girl there said that because McDonald's had been closed in the early morning, they (BK) had done $3500 worth of breakfast business. Evidently, that's quite something.

My next door neighbor called a bit ago about a cat (I think), but the conversation quickly went to almost everything else.

The evening is about gone now--and my choices are go to bed soon and get up early and go in to work again, or say the heck - - - - Wait a minute!!! today is Friday.

Okay--I don't need to make any decision, and can stay up as late as I want without the threat of an early alarm clock.

I can hardly wait to see the papers tomorrow.
