till Tuesday.

This weekend will be almost non-stop parades, starting tonight. (Weather permitting, of course.)

The big wide neutral grounds on the parade routes are sprouting tents, chairs, and outdoor grills. The Quarter is getting more and more crowded.

I spent most of today doing this and that--a widely varied assortment of odd jobs that needed doing.

A week from now (almost) all the litter will have been cleaned up.

Mardi Gras ends when a phalanx of mounted police go the length of Bourbon Street announcing that the party is over.

Most people accept that; the few who don't become "guests" of the city.

Today there were parades in New Orleans, Metairie, and probably several other places.

My day was spent resting and relaxing, petting cats, and every once in a while doing a household task.

It's not like I put in an active day, but I'll be off to Nod early tonight, and I won't set the alarm clock for tomorrow.
