There was a very welcome phone call early (before 8) this morning. My mirror had arrived and was waiting to be installed on my car.

I gathered up my checkbook, a book, and a crossword puzzle book and headed to the car shop.

About an hour later (he had something else to do first) I was headed down the road--once again better able to see the people behind me.

A quick swing through WalMart for some critter treats I was low on and then home.

Mostly I did this and that around the house.

And I seem to remember there was a nap in there at some point.

Weather was quite nice--a far cry from that front that tore through the area last night.

They were showing some of the bad damage on TV.

And--they also showed some of the pilings being pulled on the Old River Control structure.

This is an interesting bit of engineering that helps reduce (or alleviate) flood risk as the snow up north melts and raises the level of the Mississippi. Opening the ORCS somewhat lets more water flow. It's been in place for a lot of years.

Well, it's going to be hard to beat yesterday, what with the plane that had a nasty landing, and that evening storm front.

What's the saying--if you don't like the weather wait a few minutes.

Hoping the weather this evening is uneventful (and dry).
