. . . was about as unremarkable as yesterday.

I brought last week's trash receptacle back to the house and put in a fresh liner.

I fill a trash barrel about three times a month. My (private) trash hauler has learned my "signals" as to whether to stop or not. If the barrel is near the street, that usually means it's full. If it is still set back a ways, it isn't.

I spent a fair amount of time (again) today watching about the Mississippi. They are still opening bays on the control structure that releases a BUNCH of water to make its way to Lake Pontchartrain.

Tonight's news was mostly about what will happen if (more likely when) they redirect water down the Morganza spillway. People that live in that path are busily prreparing for flooding.

The main idea is to relieve the pressure on the levees so they don't collapse from the substantially increased volume of water. And (of course) they don't want the water to spill over the levee tops.

It is much more interesting to be able to just watch things as they are happening and not have to worry about one's own property, as is the case with so many people.

House/home accomplishments were minimal. A morning trip to WalMart restocked the critter food for several days.

And then I had a just-right size nap.

Later in the afternoon I saw my neighbor's car at home and gave her a call to thank her for mowing my grass. She has a riding mower that she really enjoys.

It's a long time since I've had neighbors to just chat with.

Their property was woods till a bit before Katrina. On the other side there's a triple lot with a father and his two grown sons.

The lots are 440 ft. deep, and mostly woods.

And that accounts for the variety of "guests" who come by the house looking for handouts.

I expect tommorrow to be much like today--unremarkable.
