At long last the skies were dry (and looked to stay that way) and the car was working fine. And, I didn't have appointments anywhere--having cancelled out a routine chat with my money manager.

So--it was off to work.

And for a wonder the traffic was moving steadily all the way in. No significant slowdowns at the base of the high rise, and everyone seemed to be paying attention.

Also, there were no slowdowns once I'd gotten off the interstate at what I now know is called the "Claiborne Flyover" by some of the radio people. Once I got to the campus I got my usual parking spot, and headed to the Newcomb library building.

I figured out what I'd been doing the last time I'd been in, and got back to work. I feel it was a fairly productive day.

Best of all, it didn't decide to rain at quitting time, as it has done several times in previous weeks.

Not sure if I'm going in tomorrow--it depends on the weather etc. Friday is not an option, since I have the orthopedist appointment early that afternoon. The next time I go in I need to take a detour going home and scope out the location of his office. It's quite a few years since I've been there--maybe eight or more.

I did note today that the big new dormitory building right across from my window looks like it still has a LOT of work left on it. There's less than a month left till the freshman and the returnees begin arriving. It wouldn't be the first time a dorm wasn't ready. I think the last time it happened Tulane rented a nearby motel, and ran bus service to and from the campus.

If it is late getting done there will probably be some unhappy parents. Tulane tuition is probably well over $10,000 by now. I don't know what it was when I was there--as a grad student I did some grading and teaching which offset the tuition.

(Nothing like having a wet towel over one'shoulders, with the AC blowing on it, to cool off.)

Tomorrow's activities will depend (again) on whether it rains or threatens to. If I don't go in tomorrow, I'll try again on Thursday.

For now, I hope it rains tonight to cool things down.
