Just in case TS Lee strengthens and turns around, I made a quick trip to WalMart. At the time, I hadn't seen the latest track, which seems to have put Lee outside of local concern.

Lots of other people were taking care of pre-storm activities--such as filling the gas tanks of their cars. And (of course) stocking up on comfort foods and nutritional necessities.

But (according to the evening news) it looks like Lee will not be a local concern--other than some high water in various places. There will be a lot of insurance people around to take care of water intrusions into houses.

I do hope that's the end of the tropical storms--for this year at least.

Tonight I think will be a light afghan night--and no fan. And the way the yawns are coming I don't think it will be a late night.

Note to self: call the heating people to come out and clean the furnace and then light it.

The automatic lighter died a LONG time ago, so lighting the furnace involves a lighted match stuck in the end of a unbent coat hanger. It's an interesting bit of juggling to get the gas turned on, the match lit, and then then the match (secured in the end of a coathanger) poked down into the burn chamber in sync with turning on the gas. I may ask the furnace people how much it would cost to get the remote gas turner-on fixed. On the other hand, I don't think I light the furnace more than once (maybe twice) a year.

It's cooled down just enough that I may have a cat wanting to cuddle tonight.

That would be nice.
