Spring days in the Deep South are to be treasured.

The air is clear, the sun is bright, and there are usually a few gentle breezes. One can almost hear the grass etc. waking up and stretching--getting ready for the spring growth spurt.

I was at the Inspection Station (a former gas station) bright and early to take care of that little matter. I may have been the first "customer" of the day. The guy and I chatted a bit and in a very short time my car had a new sticker on the windshield and I was headed on a couple of errands. (The "Inspection Station" is just down the street from the main Post Office.) Once those were done I relaxed at home--doing some needed minor stuff and then resting my eyelids for a bit.

Yesterday, when I was gathering the inspection paperwork I needed--in particular proof of insurance--I couldn't find said proof. I phoned my insurer (GEICO) and before the phone call was over the info had been e-mailed to me AND my printer. I've been a GEICO customer for 50 years or more, and it's nice to see them utilizing the most up-to-date electronics. (My printer happened to be on, as was my computer.)

Once I'd made my car "legal" again this morning I headed out to WalMart for the usual stuff.

The list always starts with "critter food."

And the rest of the day has been uneventful and restful.

I'm tentatively planning to go in to work tomorrow. Aside from letting them know I'm still alive, I need to get some more information for next weeks' "Preserving Memorabila" talk.
