That stands for Guardians Of Slidell History, and is the name of the group to which I spoke this afternoon.

There were about twenty or so people there, and it was a VERY enjoyable experience.

When GOSH was first founded I joined, as sort of a duty for someone claiming to be (more or less) a historian. But with one thing and another I never made it to a meeting. I paid dues and read the newletter.

After this afternoon I'm going to make it a point to go to the meetings.

It is not a "scholarly" group, but a bunch of people who are interested in the history of Slidell and the surrounding area.

I've lived in Slidell for more than half my life. The first time was from '63 to '68. We returned in '76 for the space shuttle program.

I like it here.

My tentative plans for tomorrow include going in to Newcomb and working with the archival stuff. Rain, or the threat of it, would change those plans. However, based on TV's weather-guessers I think tomorrow will be a Newcomb day.
