I have had a pair of Koss PortaPro headphones for years. Great value, except that the ear cushions fray to the point of falling off over time. Used to be that one called Koss' customer service number to order a new pair ($5.00). Now one can place the order on the Koss website. Nothing major to report, just that I never liked having to place the order over the phone.

Speaking of over the phone, I'm waiting for the Multnomah County telephone service business hours to commence. Noon Wednesday is the start of the telephone day. The dead possum lies stiff as a popsicle, in a plastic garbage bag, on my curb, waiting for me to make the call. Whereupon Animal Control will retrieve the carcass within 72 hours.

When I was pooper-scoopering said carcass into the garbage bag, I had the notion that the fleas swarming the matted fur of the possum now had the option to migrate to my body like rats scuttling along a ship's bow lines.

*UPDATE

When I called Animal Control, the woman on the line asked me if I'd put the dead opossum out front, I said yes, in a black trash bag. The woman gushed, "Oh, you're so wonderful to do that!" What, do most people prefer to have an exposed carcass in front of their house as they wait three days for Animal Control to show up? They can't spare a plastic bag for the purpose?
