Back yesterday from Thanksgiving in Sacramento. Took the Dog-faced Boyos with us, and, to my surprise, they behaved very well and future trips with them are advised.

Considering that they are accustomed to being let out in our backyard for their disgusting environmental foulings, they adapted nicely to a few days in my father's condo. A daily trip to a Sacramento off-leash dog park (except for Friday, on our way out of town; apparently rain is a cause for closing said park) and a few trips on the leash to sniff at bushes on the sidewalks of downtown seemed to do the trick. They played well inside, no fights or toppling of aged grandmothers, and as far as I could tell, they were considerate houseguests. And the long trips by car (with one stop in a Medford off-leash park and many leashed excursions in freeway and highway rest stops) went smoothly. They even did well in the Red Lion we bunkered in Friday night, after a scary trip on a two-lane highway known as the Trinity Highway -- rainy, curvy, much up and down from two to four thousand feet above sea level, until we came down to the sea at Eureka. Which seemed rather awash in Vagabonds.

So the pups did well, though the trips must have been stressful, as they have been mucho sleepy yesterday and today. Good boys both of them, and a belated Happy Thanksgiving to all.
