Glass Casket

I just sold "In a Glass Casket" to Realms of Fantasy. I'm very happy (and not just because this ends something of a dry-spell I've had recently acceptance-wise); this is one of my favorites, and I'm delighted it's going to be published. I'm looking forward to the illustration. I think it's inherently very illustratable.

This is one of my stranger pieces of fiction, in that the most interesting part of the "plot" only affects my viewpoint character tangentially -- but it's importantly tangential. Basically it's about a kid brushing up against a big chunk of primal Story, and being changed by it, even as the Story goes on and leaves him in its wake. It's about parents, children, growing up -- all that good stuff.

Thanks go to Jed Hartman and Susan Groppi for suggesting some revisions to an earlier version, which made it a much stronger story.
