Laid Low by Autumn

It's autumn. I love autumn. But today I'm laid low by autumn. Heather's been feeling crappy (and has that feverish, almost-tubercular glow that makes her so pretty), and today it's my turn to feel crappy. I had a sinus headache all day yesterday, which I gamely suppressed with drugs. Today I woke up with a fever (not a really bad one, but still), and general sniffing, sneezing, body aches, etc. So I called in sick. Since the issue went to press last week, I don't feel too bad about missing a day at work now, though the Protestant work ethic within me is grumbling.

So my plan is to sit on the couch all day, drinking tea and reading Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell in the overcast gray light, as a mound of tissues and used tea bags gradually builds up around me. With napping as necessary. It's not exciting, but I don't want to be sick this weekend, since we're going to be social on Saturday, so I'm doing the rest and drink lots of fluids thing. Wish me luck.
