So, the weekend was pretty good, apart from the two hours spent wrestling with a drain snake trying to unclog the toilet.

Although, once the toilet was actually working again, the weekend was a whole lot better.

I got lots and lots and lots of work done on Rangergirl revisions this past weekend. I went through all my line edits, and went through the marked-up manuscript from my editor, too. I need to do some more work on the beginning (but I know what to do, so it's just typing), tweak a few other scenes to lesser degrees, and then read the whole book again to make sure I didn't miss anything. I'm hoping to be done with it by Thanksgiving weekend. Then I'll send it back to my editor. If she's happy with my changes, great, and if she thinks it needs more work, well, I'll do more work...

I've gotten a couple of rejections lately. Realms of Fantasy and Chizine and Fortean Bureau have all bounced stories from me in the past couple/few weeks. So, see, it's not always all roses, roses, roses strewn in my path.

Matt Cheney said really nice things about my story "Life in Stone, and Jonathan Strahan says it's the best thing I've published all year. Matt pretty much pegged what I was trying to accomplish, which suggests I was successful, so I'm pleased.

We're all sort of under-the-weather here in the Prattshaw household. Heather was sick last week and into the weekend, and I've got sniffles and a sore throat. Our cat, Zanzibar, has a cold, and seems to be getting an eye infection (the latter worries us, so I'm taking him to the vet Tuesday afternoon). We don't have as much energy as we'd like. Fortunately, it doesn't take much energy to play Fable or watch The West Wing, which is about all we accomplished tonight...

My new favorite song? "Screen Door" by Uncle Tupelo. Just thought you'd like to know.
