BASS

So, um, wow. A little while ago I got a phone call from the dynamically delightful duo, Kelly Link and Gavin Grant, passing along the news that Michael Chabon has chosen my story "Hart & Boot" from Polyphony 4 for inclusion in the next volume of Best American Short Stories, which he's editing.

Color me pole-axed.

The BASS, y'all. This is the real deal. I am, truly, not worthy. Kelly's awesome story "Stone Animals" is also being reprinted, along with at least one other SF/F story, in addition to stories from the sorts of big-name literary people you'd expect.

I keep thinking there's been some horrible mistake.

No, seriously. I really do half-expect Michael Chabon to write me apologetically saying "Um, no, I meant that other Tim Pratt..."

Anyway. We've gotta celebrate. This rules.

Hey, I just realized, 1/3 of the stories I published in 2004 are being reprinted in Year's Best volumes! Further proof that the world has gone mad, but since it's gone mad in a way that's advantageous to me, I won't worry.
