So, yeah, wrote a story. About 5,600 words, took me about four hours of actual-sitting-down-and-typing, plus some thinking-in-the-shower, thinking-on-the-couch, and etc. I used to cruise along at 2,000 words an hour, but I've slowed down in my dotage. I suspect I could do this full-time writer thing, though, because as long as I know what I'm doing, I can write fast clean first drafts. I can write a serviceable draft of a novel in a month if I have a good outline. And no full time job, natch, or else no social life. Maybe I'll get to do the full-time novelist thing someday. It's good to have goals.

The story doesn't have a title yet. It's about loss, love, betrayal, dragons, junk, collectors, artifacts, relics, lost cities, sacrifice, horrible choices. Any title suggestions along those lines are welcome. Nothing's coming to me, and I've been thinking about it all day.
