Hey, you can go order the Scalzi-edited Science Fiction Cliche issue of Subterranean Magazine. Which looks to be filled with awesomeness, and also has a great cover.

Another great cover? The one for my upcoming collection Hart & Boot. You can see it (and pre-order) at Amazon.com. That's not really the final cover, just a mock-up for solicitation purposes, but you can see the awesome illustration of John Boot, toting a shotgun, and melting into smoke and starlight at the bottom. Artist Richard Marchand rocks my world.

There are so many books I want to read. The Privilege of the Sword by Ellen Kushner leaps to mind. I haven't had a chance to read Morrow's The Last Witchfinder yet, and need to buy a copy. Yesterday I read the first few pages of Elizabeth Bear's Blood and Iron, and now I want very much to read that. I never got into her much-lauded Jenny Casey books (though Heather loved them), but contemporary fantasy pushes my buttons in a way SF never does, and iron rings and otherwise senses? Right up my alley. Now if only I had the money to buy books...

I'm reading YA Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist now, which is very nice and quick. I'm also reading my friend Jen Fu's novel, which has bowling and house fires and serial killers, so, yum.

Yesterday I wrote an outline for Ferocious Dreamers. Now I know what happens next. This is very comforting. I got farther than I expected in the outline before I was forced to write "Hijinks ensue," which is the point all my outlines hit, eventually.
