Novel Couch

Happy Monday. The really big news is that Heather finished typing in her YA novel, Sienna's Summer, on Sunday! It's a whole book! She's planning on doing revisions over the next couple of weeks, then giving it to first readers (including me). I can't wait to read it. Exciting!

The other big news is, we bought a couch. A new couch was the treat we promised to buy for ourselves when our ship comes in (that is, when the first big check for my novels arrives). Most of the money is going to pay off debt and various bills, and to buy some necessities (new glasses for me, a new printer, etc.), but the couch is pure pleasure. Now, the money hasn't come yet, but we know its arrival is imminent, so we decided, if we saw something we loved, we'd just get it with a credit card. We've been sort of aimlessly looking at couches for a couple of weeks, and Saturday we decided to check out one of the local furniture stores. Much to our joy, we discovered that we looooove their furniture! Plushy, overstuffed, comfy, and very much to our taste. We found a nice sofa with a chaise on one side, and it wasn't too expensive (well within the budget we'd set, anyway). The floor model was already sold, so we have to wait for our couch to be ordered, which should take a couple of weeks. Getting the old couch out (and down all those stairs) will be something of an ordeal, but it'll be worth it when we have a nice beautiful new couch to lounge about on. Yay!

Otherwise, life continues. Reading, writing, cleaning, walking, cooking delicious fajita feasts, playing games, enjoying the last vestiges of summer, the usual.
