Here I am in Indiana ("there's more than corn / in Indiana"). We arrived yesterday evening and stayed up very late, and slept very late, our internal clocks wholly undone by the combination of time zone change and Daylight Savings Time ending. I think we're reasonably adjusted now, though. We just took a long walk through Heather's old neighborhood, and through the woods behind, complete with decrepit devastated barns and vast whispering fields of corn. The weather is nice, crisp and autumnal, the sky very clear (though rain is expected later this week). The leaves have turned and every tree looks like a torch, with yellow and red leaves.

I've gotten a little writing done, and a little reading. Tonight I'll begin seeing some of Heather's family members that have, thus far, managed to avoid meeting me. Later this week we'll bop up to Chicago to visit Mary Anne and Heather's uncle. I haven't been to Chicago since I was a little kid, and have no memories of the place. Should be interesting.

So far I haven't eaten any steak, but I'm sure that will change soon.
