Ghost of Xmas Past

Xmas was good! We woke up not too early, and all the Shaws piled into our living room bearing gifts, and I made a big breakfast of eggs and bacon and toast, and after eating we tore into our heaps of presents. I got lots of great stuff this year, too much to list entirely, but highlights include an indestructible hat and the greatest t-shirt in the world from Heather, and a Playstation 2 from Heather's mom (now I can roll objects into balls -- Holly got me Katamari Damacy, yay!). I got good music and a game and a DVD from Mom, and clothes from Dad (who also sent a box of the Christmas candy of my childhood; chocolate covered peanuts, orange slices, ribbon candy, etc.). Lots of books and CDs and such fun things from various friends and family. Really a bountiful day. Of course, it's always more fun to see someone open up a present you gave them, and see that they really like it, and I managed to accomplish that a couple of times, so I'm happy as a giver, too.

We spent the afternoon cooking and eating, eating, eating. I made turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy, and there were casseroles galore, and pie, and so on. We were appropriately gorged and logy by day's end.

Alas, I have to go back to work today, though I'm very tired from yesterday. Christmas was fun, but it wasn't exactly a relaxing weekend. Heather's got the day off today, so I hope she has enough fun for both of us...
