Well, hey. The Nielsen Haydens have posted the complete Hugo Awards ballot.

And lookie there. My story "Impossible Dreams" is a finalist in the short story category.

!!!!

(Of course, I've known about the nomination for ages. Or, well, at least a week and a half. This is of course the good news I've been hinting about.)

Here's my category:

Short Story

Neil Gaiman, “How to Talk to Girls at Parties”

Bruce McAllister, “Kin”

Tim Pratt, “Impossible Dreams”

Robert Reed, “Eight Episodes”

Benjamin Rosenbaum, “The House Beyond the Sky”

Very cool to be on the ballot with Ben, though I suspect we'll all lose to Neil. (His story is really good, so I won't mind.)

Thanks to everyone who nominated me. This is one of those things I never even bothered to hope for, because the possibility seemed too remote. Whee!

I'm thrilled to see my friends Paul Melko and Bill Shunn on the novella ballot, too. Both those stories are great. Scalzi being on the fan writer ballot is awesome. Frank Wu is representin' in the fan artist category, and my day job is on the semi-prozine ballot as usual. All good things. And the Campbell ballot is good, too -- Novik! Monette! Lynch! I love all their books! (Haven't read much by the others.)

I wish I could go to Japan for the convention. But I'm quite happy anyway.
