I'm still having a hard time understanding why everyone thinks that is a big deal -- maybe because getting a bachelor's degree has never been my ultimate educational goal. I really didn't get it until Sunday, when we had a Mother's Day/Graduation party with my Dad's side of the family and I suddenly realized that I am the first woman in at least three generations on that side of the family to even go to college, much less graduate (my mother and the aunts who married in to the family excepted). I guess I take it for granted that college is the logical next step after high school, when for a lot of people it isn't -- another one of those assumptions I have to work on dissolving from my brain.
