A while back (my March 15th entry, to be exact) I linked to an article by Stacey Pressman on ESPN.com about the difficulties of being a female sports fan in the male-dominated world of sports fandom. Well now she's written a follow-up article responding to the many different responses she received to the original article.  Even if you are not a sports person yourself, I urge you to check it out -- it's well-written and an interesting look at the relationship between the sexes.

I was ruminating on food today while I was making dinner.  Good time to do that, I suppose.  Specifically, I was noting how I'm actually starting to enjoy cooking for myself.  When I first moved in here, making meals was near torture, which is why I ate a lot of grilled cheese and soup.  Then I picked up a few recipies, but got in a rut of the same ones all the time.  Now I'm actually starting to let myself experiment with spices and substituting one ingredient for another.  Guacamole used to be advocado plus salsa to taste, then done.  Now I add chili powder and lemon juice, which is much better.  Today for lunch I had a bagel with cream cheese, sliced tomato and a liberal sprinkling of oregano (oregano and tomato are also really good on grilled cheese).  I'm still no gourmet, I'm not yet up to inventing my own salad dressings like my friend Suzanne, but I'm working on it.
