Today was a really good day.

I felt like I got a lot of the things on my "to do" list out of the way that had been worrying me. (Not Christmas shopping, but that's okay.) Plus, after workshop, a bunch of us went out to eat Chinese food, and then went over to the bar two doors down and had a drink. (You can probably tell I've had a beer from the rambling nature of this post.) It was really fun hanging out. I've been so reclusive this last month or so that I'd almost forgotten how much fun it can be just to sit around and talk with a bunch of people. Even if once again we had to go through the fuss over how young I am compared to everyone else. (I guess I should take it as a compliment; people obviously assume that I'm 25 or 26 because I seem more mature than 23, though I don't know how much more mature that is. Of course sometimes lately, I catch myself thinking of myself as 25 -- is that weird?) Anyway we fussed over everybody a little bit -- Matt's book deal (to write a book about poker, which he actually plays competitively), Teresa's "child bride" status (though she was older than my mom when she got married), etc. It was very enjoyable. It made me remember why I'm glad I picked Sarah Lawrence and not some other college where the students are too busy competing with each other to really be friendly.
