In my adolescent/adult life, the most important thing about Valentine's Day for me has been that it means exactly one more month before my birthday. And getting my care package of candy and valentine-themed/red clothing from my Mom (this year, pink flip-flops and my favorite kind of underwear, both with hearts on them -- yes, my mom is still allowed to buy me underwear). Anyway, last year I treated myself to a box of Russell Stover's and a new pair of fake-satin pajamas, and spent the day pampering myself. I had planned to do sort of the same thing this year, until I found out there are student tickets available for New York City Ballet's production of Sleeping Beauty tomorrow night. So I have decided to take myself on a date. I'm going to get all dressed up and go into the city to see a nice, traditional, fairytale ballet. Just because I have no actual romance in my life doesn't mean I can't indulge my romantic side.
