Book Being Currently Read: American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Last Bit of Music Listend To: Grosse Point Blank soundtrack
Last Bit of Visual Media Watched: Amadeus

Howdy all,

And welcome to yet someone else's livejournal. I supposed it's time I hopped onto this bandwagon--and this time I'm not going to wait as long as I did before getting a cell phone (five years) or transfering my music collection to CD (twenty years).

Nice to be on the technology curve.

My lady, whom I've decided to name here as Pretty Maggie out of a sense of her privacy and because I, fairly recently, heard the song Pretty Maggie-O and it's still stuck somewhat in my head.

Weekends that Pretty Maggie visits tend to be weekends in which I don't watch much news--I usually get than my fill with daily doses of NPR. This weekend, however, was a bit more challenging in avoiding the news. Well, the war and all you know. Looks like we're doing well, and that's good news. Better news would be the invention of a time machine so we could go back and elect a different president--one who wouldn't have botched up important things like diplomacy and real international relations.

But we're stuck with what we have, so let's do it right, and our troops seem to be doing a bang-up job. At this stage in the game, we couldn't ask for less, couldn't expect less, and are obliged to support to our utmost.

I heard an interesting bit of info the other day. It seems there are only seven nations in the world who train their armies year-round. The US (obviously), Canada, Japan (their SDF at least), Russia, Great Britain, China, and (I lebelieve) Australia. I think this explains how despite having the fourth largest army in the world, the Iraq forces are pretty lame. No sense of tactics or strategy. Hell, an eight-year old playing Risk could probably do a better job.

Speaking of games, Pretty Maggie and I have been interested in trying out some new games. We're both old gamers who have long since gafiated. Now that we have each other to start with--we're doing some games. We recently tried out a hilarious card game about Management, and have yet to try--but own--a game called Hera vs. Zeus. Looks like fun. I've recently uncovered my old boxed set of The Best of Dragon Games. I still have the gameboards and pieces, but not the rulebook collection. Now I wander the Net in search of the rules to Search For the Emporer's Treasure and Food Fight. Wish me luck.

Alas.

It is Sunday evening, and I have some freelance work to do and hope to do a little bit of my own writing. I shall close here and write more soon.

Cheers!
