And welcome to Friday!

I missed last night's journaling not because I didn't have anything to write, but because I lacked the most sorely-needed thing for any webjournal--an Internet connection. The murderous twins of Heat and Humidity took a broken beer bottle to me yesterday and slashed the phone for a good part of the evening. Still, I didn't let the evening go by entirely. While it was too hot to work for very long (despite a house full of fans), I did yet another go-through of "InterWorld Truck Kings Artists Collective" and will send that sucker out on Monday. I pitched a column idea to a magazine, and started work on an article about slushpiles for a market yet-to-be-determined. Anyone who has good slushpile stories are free to share them here. I may not use them, but then again, I might.

But lordie, it's been hot. I'm actually looking forward to the thunderstorms a'comin' tonight. Poor Nemo has been feeling the heat. All that fur--yeesh. And I wonder about this phone connection. It's still humid, and I've had enough line-noise to knock me off a few times. After we move, I'll be switching to cable, but until then... *sigh*

My next two freelance typesetting projects are a book of Baby Snooks scripts (old time radio) and the memoirs of Joel Rapp who was a writer for a number of old favorites such as Bewitched, Gilligan's Island, Green Acres, McHale's Navy, The Donna Reed Show, The Lucy Show, and The Patty Duke Show. Should be pretty interesting! Both books come from the good people of BearManor Media.

In the meantime, I also have plenty of writing to work on.

Pretty Maggie is coming back late tonight after a night at her mother's where she picked up more of her stuff. This weekend we're hoping to get some work around the house done. Next weekend we have friends from out of town visiting for the holiday weekend, so be best to get work done sooner than later.

Domestic bliss.

This weekend will also see some work done on Sleight of Hand #2. Con reports. 30-year old fanzine reviews. Long-lost relatives. SF, Sci-fi, Skiffy? And we hear all the noise concerning Mike Resnick's article from SoH #1 about the history of the pulps.

And today's link goes to an oldie and goodie, National Lampoon's The Night of the Seven Fires credited as being the inspiration for one of the greatest movies ever filmed, Animal House. Low college humor at its cheap finest.

Enjoy!
