Reading: On Writing by Stephen King
Music: Straight to Hell
TV/Movie: Spirited Away
Link o' the Day: yet another Penny Arcade strip!

So here are some of the mysteries men face when first faced with cohabitation with a member of the opposite sex:

Take the bathroom, for instance. I now have shelves. And on these shelves are bottles I've never heard of. One claims to be an apricot scrub despite the fact we have yet to purchase any apricots--let alone ones that need scrubbing. There is a bottle that claims to infuse hair with 23 pro-vitamins. What the hell are pro-vitamins? How do they differ from regular vitamins? What's all this about infusing?

And I have cotton balls in my bathroom. I thought cotton balls were only used to stuff medicine bottles. Cotton balls!!!

I will, however, applaud Pretty Maggie's respect for the art of self-defense. I suppose that explains the box marked "feminine protection." It seems as good a place as any to conceal a pistol.

Work continues. I'm busily formating scripts tonight, and looking over some old Hollywood photos for upcoming books.

So an interesting thing happened to me as I finished going over a draft of my juvie SF story, "Walter Gibson's Clockwork Cat". I finished the story and said to myself, "whew! Now that was a good story!"

Now I can hear what you're thinking. You're asking yourself, "But don't you think all your stories are good?"

Well of course I do. But usually I'm so familiar with a story during the rewrite/revision process--so close to a story that I ternd not to lose myself in it. This time I did. Probably this was because it had been about six months since I've last laid eyes on it. Sure, it needed some changes--mostly wording. But overall I still think the story is Very Good. The folks at Cicada would be insane to pass this up when I send the resubmission.

Today's link is a familiar one--it's yet another Penny Arcade strip!

Past posts have expressed my admiration for Tycho's writing ability. Now he takes Gabe to task with The Bad Boys of Punctuation.

Sweet!
