Reading: about to start Jeff Shaara's The Glorious Cause
Music: Utopia's "Swing to the Right" and Velvet Crush's "Teenage Symphonies to God"
TV/Movie: My Blue Heavan, Save the Last Dance, Road to Hong Kong
Link o' the Day: Donato Giancola's Home Page

And a busy weekend it's been. Not a bad thing by any means. I've been pushing to get the first draft of the Baby Snooks done so I can then concentrate onother projects. I've also been laying out articles and graphics for Sleight of Hand #2 in between Snook scripts.

That's not to say the weekend has been nothing but work. Far from it. Yesterday Pretty Maggie and I went out to finally see Finding Nemo. It was pretty good. I think Ellen Degeneris's (sp?) character carried most of the film, but everyone was generally pretty good. We had dinner and wandered the Providence Place Mall where we picked up some rings for each other. Mine is a ring within a ring, the other ring freely rotating with a nice simple interlace design.I like it. Hers consists of three thin bands intertwining. We also had to make a pass by Newbury Comics where I found (at a great bargain) a copy of Zulu starring a young Michael Caine. I also found pretty cheap copies of Utopia's "Swing to the Right" and the Velvet Crush's "Teenage Symphonies to God" on CD. A good day for bargains.(Pretty Maggie indulged in her Care Bear fetish in ways best not revealed. I understand, however, that there is such a thing as Grumpy Bear, which restores, somewhat, my faith in humanity. Harumph!)

We rented movies also this weekend. I picked out Casablance and The Maltese Falcon, but we've not watched them yet. We did see Save the Last Dance and My Blue Heaven, however, and I found a cheap previously-viewed copy of one of those great old Hope/Crosby road movies (The Road to Hong Kong) and a yet-unseen-by-me Luc Besson/Jean Reno film (Wasabi).

Rough-ish day today (Sunday) if only because of a splitting headache around the afternoon. Pretty Maggie to the rescue with Excedrin! We got our chores done, I got the Baby Snooks book done. I got some other work done as well. Not a bad weekend at all, but over much, much too quickly.

Had an interesting story flash while in the shower. I've heard of this happening to other people, but it was a first for me. I'm lucky I didn't slip on the soap. I emerge dripping from the shower, nekked, and stumbling for my desk to jot down the idea. Pretty Maggie gets nervous whenever I write notes to myself. I don't blame her. I have a dangerous imagination. I assuaged her fears by mentioning it was merely a story idea. Now, we'll see what happens with it, if anything.

After thinking about Dan Brown's Angels & Demons the other day, and how I had noticed him using the notecard-method of storytelling, that it might not be a bad experiment for yours truly when it comes to larger writing projects. I now have two packages of notecards. If it doesn't work, I can always try origami.

Today's link is for art-lovers. Welcome to Donato Giancola's Home Page. Like Bob Eggleton, whom I've highlighted here before, Giancola is one of the best SF/Fantasy cover artists around. I like the clean look of his work and his especially vibrant colors.

Enjoy!
