It's here! Arrived in my mailbox this afternoon. LOW PORT! The second story, "Digger Don't Take no Requests" by John Teehan is the second story (pages 22-43). I highly recommend it. (Ordering information can be found at Meisha Merlin's Low Port or at its Amazon.com listing.

So color me pleased.

Not much else to report on tonight. It's been a quiet week. I've been doing some pre-writing and editing, but nothing major or anything worth a brag. Freelance has been going pretty well, and I found myself doing some consulting yesterday for the printshop that bought our old imagesetter. Easy money--and just in time. Torcon doth approach closer and closer.

Pretty Maggie's birthday is coming up right soon. She's going to be getting another one of her presents tomorrow and has been very good about not trying to find out what it is ahead of time. I'll tell you folks here, though. Just scroll down some...

By the way, I just finished PLANET RUN by Keith Laumer and Gordon Dickson. It's a bit of an oldie, but it sure is a goodie. All three stories, Planet Run, Once There Was a Giant, and Call Him, Lord are fine, ageless science fiction. As I was reading Once There Was a Giant, I thought to myself, hey--this should have gotten an award, it's so good. I did some checking and discovered that it was a Nebula Nominee in 1968 for Best Novelette (the winner was Kate Wilhelm's The Planners which I've never read).

Okay... back to the scrolling...

What? No I'm not going to say here. She reads this journal too y'know. hehe.
