Link o' the Day: The Devils Panties webcomic

I’m having an interesting morning.

We’ve upgraded the computers at work, so now I’m working on a new Mac running MasOS X. I’ve been using system 9 for so long, that this new OS is going to take some time getting used to.

And because it’s a new OS, there are all sorts of processes that look the same, but feel different. I’m going to be learning all new keyboard combinations, and learning to navigate whole new filing structures.

Still, the computer itself is pretty kickass. Like a tiny god. All I need to do is learn how to use it properly and take the most advantage of it, while cutting out all the dross and creaping features that tend to hang on to most new OS’s like plague.

Pretty Maggie and I were on Long Island again this past weekend. We were helping her mother move to new digs. It’s a nice little apartment. A bit too small for my tastes, but I’m assured that it’s more-than-adequate by New York standards.

It went as well as could be expected considering our usual level of organizational expertise, i.e., no expertise whatsoever. Things got a little hairy at the end as we’re racing for a deadline to make the last ferry for home, getting three bureau’s down a narrow flight of stairs, and an oncoming rain storm. (Oh, and hunger. We’d eaten a small breakfast at the start of the day, and didn’t eat again until nearly 8 that night.)

But we survived, and things worked out all right in the end. Yesterday we recuperated somewhat, although there was still some physical sorts of labor during the day with chores and unloading the car with stuff Pretty Maggie had in storage from her years in Alabama.

One thing I did yesterday was go and put on layaway a tres cool computer desk. Lots of flat table space for laying out my work, drawing, keeping reference materials, etc. And lots of drawers and shelves to keep things safe from the cat. The only thing, of course, I that it’s incredibly heavy and took two strong men tried and true to lift it onto the cart. When Pretty Maggie’s mother comes a’callin’ I’m going to draft the pickup into getting this dang thing home where I’m going to have to unpack the pieces while still on the bed of the truck to bring up to the apartment one at a time.

Did some writing over the weekend as well, despite all the other busy happenings. I’m drafting out notes for a novel. I’ve my characters and a plot. I find that the more I write about what I’ll be writing—the more I’ll come up with details I’ll need later and plot twists and so far. And yes, it’s space opera… the best kind of opera there be.

No special link of the day as I’m still learning this new computer and haven’t had any time to go browsing. But for those two or three who find they can’t live without a link from me, check out The Devils Panties webcomic. It ain’t what you think. No panties. No devils. A funny little comic about the cartoonist’s life.

Enjoy!
