Jersey Girl revisited

so I just got a call from Pretty Maggie informing me that the new kevin smith movie, Jersey Girl, will be coming out this Friday.

Now I never saw Gigli, but all the press pretty much said "Afleck and J-Lo? run away!" and I felt sick at heart that one of the best film makers of our time (Kevin Smith) had his wagon hitched to this particulr pairing. So my reaction to the news was less than stellar, which surprised Pretty Maggie as she knows I'm a big Kevin Smith fan.

I liken it to a happy puppy who gets kicked a lot. mm.. there's food in my dish. I want to eat it. But I might get kicked... (whine!)

But my fears are somewhat put to rest. I checked out the preview at the apple.com website and am pleased to say that JLo dies in the beginning. (This is no secret, it's right there in the preview) and Liv Tyler takes over as the romantic opposite.

The little girl is charming. Ben Afleck doesn't look like he sucks too much. George Carlin plays his father, so there's a big checkmark added to the plus column.

So will I see Jersey Girl?

You betcha!

Will I get my heart broken? That remains to be seen, but I'm a bit more hopeful that one day we can all put Gigli behind us and never speak of it again.

Cheers!
