Link o' the Day: Introducing Cats.

Been very busy at work these past couple of days, and I’m still getting over the loss of an hour’s sleep from this weekend—heance the paucity of posting as of late.

In the That’s Good! Department, the SFWA Bulletin proof has been signed off on, and is now rolling toward the presses. Copies should be heading off to the Nebula Banquet shortly, and subscriber copies soon after that.

As predicted, I got to about hald the thigns on my To Do list, but still vaguely accomplished. I got some writing done, and continue to get more writing done in the days since. Saturday I took myself out to Cellar Stories, easily the best used bookstore in the state and surrounding regions. Pretty Maggie had given me a gift certificate a while back, and now was the time to use it. I picked up some mysteries, mostly. But also found some inexpensive editions of Charles Bukowski’s short stories and some Peter Arno collections. A good day.

So we’re planning on getting another cat. The idea is that it’s to be a companion for Nemo who, we feel, gets a bit too lonely whenever Pretty Maggie and I are both at work. Even more, we might be getting two cats depending on the availability of one. Adopting cats this year is a little more complicated than last year. Animal shelters want more proof of permission from a landlord to keep pets than a mere phonecall. One shelter insisted on a notarized letter. (Fortunately one of our downstairs neighbors is a notary public.)

But John, I hear you all say, don’t you live in an apartment? Wouldn’t three cats be a bit much?

I am assured that it is not. I’m actually looking forward to it. Cats rule.

Yet another sortish entry—a checking-in sort of entry because I hate letting a weekday go by without at least something. (late-breaking news—Pretty Maggie just called. One of the cats were were hoping to get has already been adopted, so now we’re just down to one additional cat. It’s too bad, but I’m readily heartened by the thought that it’s got a nice new home. The other cat we have our eyes on is at a shelter that’s agreed to hold it for us pending a quick vet exam.)

Anyway, my link of the day is cat-related, it’s one of several pages devoted to Introducing Cats.

Enjoy!
