Where are my cicadas? I want my cicadas! When will the cicadas come to Rhode Island?

Why? Two Machall strips, this and that, illustrate my point well. I’ll be in my fifites before they come back again, and by then--I’ll probably have to act my age.

In the meantime, all our rain is probably not going to lure the cicadas here--although I hear-tell that this whole weekend is suppobely going to be beeaaayooteeeful. Here’s hoping.

I did the first set of revisions to the Bickersons scripts book and sent that off. I have a week or so to finish up the Spike Jones book, and now that I know what photographs go where, I should be able to pull it off without much hassle.

I’ve been doing a lot of writing in my in-between times this week. The various stories are fighting it out for my full attention, but I imagine that one, if not two, can be finished before Tuesday and possilbably sent out to slush piles by next Friday. Here’s hoping.

I don’t want to spend the entire weekend in front of the tube, so in a way, I hope my ordered copy of the last LotR movie doesn’t come in today or tomorrow because then I’ll be honor-bound to watch it. Plus I’m still on my ‘power-up’ campaign in Final Fantasy X. Here’s hoping.

At the same time, neither Pretty Maggie nor I are planning on making this weekend into any kind of frenzied schedule of activity. We’re just going to enjoy the time off. Do things as they come to us. Relax. Have a nice dinner tonight (Mongolian barbecue) followed by hours of thoughtful digestion.

Today’s link isn’t really all that dated, although it’s been a while since it was last revised. It’s a document that all would-be SF writers should peruse at least once--some twice. Think it’s easy writing science fiction? Guess again! You have to steer clear of Turkey City (‘s Lexicon).

Cheers!
